Some quick in situ ideas

Here are two quick in situs I have created, they may not make sense at the moment but the idea is to show various scenarios within my story, both the reality and imaginary sequences

The idea behind this was to have an initial establishing shot to show the teenager in his room, lazy and scruffy looking, I havent used colour at the moment as I am trying to get a feel for the mood and atmosphere. i quite like this quick idea

The idea above, using silhouettes and various textures, could be a possible shot for a scene where his imagination has completely run wild and he has seen himself in a jungle/forested habitat. It also has fantasy elements to it which I like. The lighting works well and the silhouettes give the image depth and a an eerie atmosphere

Some quick coloured initial ideas

I have not created my characters in order, I have started initial cocnepts for the teenager character and wild boar character. I have found it quite difficult to get a good start with this project and have had a few bad days of designing. I need to try out various styles so here are a few quick ideas, varying in styles etc some work quite well and some I think are not any good at all.......

Quite a cartoony image, using no outline and coloured quite simply. I like the proportions but this design can be pushed further

Trying a cut/collage effect. Quite graphic and linear in areas, coloured on illustrator and then finished with a texture. Works fairl well but a little flat for me.

Here I have tried a few different styles. I like the Top right hand design. Although he looks fairly modern he also has a tribal boyish look to him which could link well with my story.

The idea behind these quick concepts was to show a snippet of the boy stepping stones across a pond/stream ( which would be just normal paving in reality) I have tried adding a texture to make it a bit more atmospheric and I have also got rid of the character out line, which works nicely. I like the contrast between the cartoony styled character and then a more concept/ airbrushed painted water feature or background. This could be the two styles I am aiming to use.

FINAL MAJOR PROJECT

Well its that time of year when reality hits and everyone starts to panic because their final major project has arrived. Yet it is exciting to start a brand new idea with loads of characters, environments etc to be created and developed. This is my main last project in university and I am both a little excited and nervous about finishing this year...........Anyway....... This is the idea for my project.

My idea is a pitch for a short animated 2D film about a young teenager who gets told by his father to carry out a boring, mundane task. As all teens do, they moan and groan and whine, and then moan some more, and still it has to be done. Yet as he embarks on his task his imagination begins to run amock within his mind and his task suddenly becomes far more interesting. He is now on a journey, an adventure, where is everyday surroundings are drastically changed. His streets are now dense, thick and humid rainforests, the run down stores are ancient ruins. The empty car parks, waste lands or marshes where only the brave dare to venture. Along his travels his loyal companion (his dog) is visualised as a wild beast, short in temper and in stature. The local gangs that dwell on street corners are evil villains and the local old lady, an eccentric and crazy witchdoctor......

Will he manage to complete the task in reality, or will his imagination have the better of him.......???

This will be aimed at a young teens to mid -teens audience. I will try to create two types of image scenarios, one being the reality sequences and the other being his imagination. I may incorporate two different styles for each scenario as I think this may be effective yet I must keep some similarities between the two. I have finished most of my research and have now began designing, Once I have scanned them in I will upload them to here. I will be juggling this project with some minor ones including collaboration and a personal project but I am looking forward to all of them.....see you guys soooonnn!!!!

CV idea and Business Card

As part of our course to prepare for us for industry we have to each produce a CV, business card, cover letter and bl;og. Here is my idea for my CV. It will be back to back, containg 3 pages of information and one cover page. The font will be similar to that of my blog and so will the colour schemes, and the same applies for the business card aswell........

And then my business card idea, using similar style, colour fonts etc............
